WMAGA >>

WHAT MAKES A GOOD AD (WMAGA)?

These tips are some handy bits and pieces that we believe will make your Bizads more effective. When making your Bizad, make sure you implement as many of the following sections as you can to ensure you make a good ad for your business.

Personality

When making your Bizad it is always important to display your personality the best you can. Be sincere, genuine, honest and yourself. Remembering that in some cases people may choose you over other businesses because of your more suited/relevant personality. Try not to be dull or boring!

Memorable, tasteful humour

Where relevant, jokes and humour can get your target audience involved, therefore making your business more susceptible to a call, lead or purchase.

Honesty

Make sure you are honest about any jobs you can do or have complete prices for services and products that your business is involved in.

Competitiveness

It is best to include an element of competitiveness over other businesses in the same field or category as you. This will encourage potential customers and clients to use or buy into your product or service. Things to include are: competitive prices, promotions, quality, range of services, potential discounts and location etc.

Short and to the point

If you have a look at many ads on TV, few are over 90 seconds in length. The best ads are the short, memorable ones, so if something doesn't need to be there, you may not need it. But experiment, and try lots of different things! Once you have a Bizad Business membership, you are free to upload as many times as you like! We have set a 50 MB upload limit so you should keep that in mind too.

Genuine

It is a good option to be genuine about the product or service that you are advertising. This will help resolve any future issues that may arise due to false or misleading information. Be truthful about your product or service, more importantly, don’t be untruthful.

Example of what you could say

This is for a Personal Training business:

“Hey, I’m Rob Scott. If you’re struggling to meet your goals of losing weight, bulking up, writing a program or just generally getting fit, then I’m the personal trainer for you!

I operate my own home personal training studio, which is located in Rowville, in the east suburbs of Melbourne.

If you’ve always wanted a personal trainer, but struggled to afford one, my prices are one of the lowest you’ll find. The prices that I charge are: $20 for a 30 min session, and $25 for the full hour, both of which are great value for you!

If you want me as your personal trainer, take a look at my contact details. Remember, keeping fit doesn’t have to be a chore!”

Choosing a Good Video Camera

With so many video cameras available these days it's really hard to know where to start if you're looking for a new one. Here's a quick low-down of the main types of cameras that are available, and our opinion on what will be good or bad for making Bizad videos

Movie Mode on a "Point and Shoot" & Flip Video Cameras

Most people have access to a simple "point and shoot" digital camera, and most offer a "Movie Mode" where you can record videos on them.

Pros: • Easy to use, • Affordable

Cons: • Often bad video quality and framerate, • Usually carries a small resolution, • Audio is often muffled (it may not even have audio), • Limited camera controls (zoom, focus, etc)

Consumer Camcorder (SD/HD)

A dedicated video camera is a good idea as they are designed to record video and most will have a semi-decent microphone built into them.

Pros: • Good video quality, • Affordable, • Easy to use, • Older MiniDV tape formats are easy to edit

Cons: • New AVCHD format is very difficult to edit, Usually no external mic input, Often will not have a very wide angle lens

High-End HD Consumer Camcorder & Professional Video Camera

These cameras will give you excellent results and flexibility, but of course, they don't come cheap with many exceeding $2,000. Our Biz-teks are equipped with high quality camcorders, so we can help you if you are after great quality, but don't have the need to buy an expensive camera.

Pros: • Excellent video quality, • Highly flexible and upgradeable, • Excellent audio quality when used with an external mic

Cons: • Very expensive, • Can be quite big and heavy, depending on the camera, • Unless you know what you're doing, can be hard to use

Video DSLRs

This is a relativley new addition to the video world, yet it seems to be taking the world by storm. Some professional DSLR cameras can now record HD video on top of their excellent still photos.

Pros: • They use the camera's 18+MP CMOS sensor so the video quality and DOF is amazing! • In some sense, they can be cheaper than a pro video camera, • Hey, they take good photos too :)

Cons: • Still very expensive for a good quality one, • Awkward to handle, as they're not designed for videography, • Zoom is not motorized and Focus is manual (which for the enthusiast, this could be a "pro". But for everyone else, this is bad), • Bad audio quality unless you use an external mic

Where to from here?

So there's our opinion on some of the main types of cameras available at the moment. If you are not sure about where to go from here, there are heaps of guides and resources on the internet that can point you in the right direction!

Choosing Good Video Editing Software

Choosing the right software to edit your video is just as important as having the right camera. Below are some of the main categories to be aware of, plus some of the programs that fit within those categories.

Free Video Editing Software

These programs either come pre-installed on your computer or can be downloaded off open source websites. Most of these will either be really easy to use, but will not do much; or will be quite powerful, but impossible to use. That said, there are some good free programs, it's just a matter of finding them

Windows MovieMaker, Apple iMovie, Wax

Consumer Video Editing Software

These programs are around the $100-$300 range and they usually offer a more advanced set of features and options than the free alternatives. One important feature of many of these programs is the ability to select more precise output formats for your videos, making them useful to get good quality and small file sizes. There are many choices in this category, these are just a couple. Download the trial versions off their websites to see how they perform.

Adobe Premiere Elements, Cyberlink Power Director, Corel Video Studio Pro X2, Sony Vegas Studio Premium

Professional Video Editing Software

These programs are the industry standard for editing and compositing video. These programs are not cheap, but they remain most powerful editing systems in the world.

Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe AfterEffects (FX Compositing), Apple Final Cut Studio, Avid Media Composer

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR YOUR BIZAD

These are the terms and conditions that you need to pay attention to when you're uploading your own Bizad. The following terms and conditions relate to two main things: copyright violation, and some of our own conditions. If you violate any of these, we'll be in touch with you about it, and you may loose your video or even your Bizad membership. So please have a read over this section carefully, because as they say, "Prevention is better than cure"!

Uploading files to the Bizad website are currently restricted to video files of 50MB or less. You must not attempt to upload any file that is intended to damage Bizad Pty Ltd or any file type than what is listed in the upload section. No video is to include any of the following:

  • Offensive language
  • Abusive or violent behaviour
  • Damaging actions or comments
  • Sexual or explicit content
  • Drug use
  • Under-age persons without consent
  • Music, logo's or images that may breach copyright

In other words: keep it (G) rated if you can!

Use of Music

While it is tempting and easy to use commercial music in your videos, unless you have obtained the appropriate royalties for this, the use of this music breaches copyright.  If we find your video to contain this music, we will be in touch with you to discuss this further.  If it is found that you have breached copyright, your video will be removed and you will need to re-upload it with a different choice of music.

There are websites which offer royalty free music to be purchased.  This music can be used commercially for your videos.  Simply do a Google search for "Royalty Free Music"!

It is recommended that all videos stay under 90 seconds in length and represent your business in the best way possible.

If you do not adhere to these rules, your video and your listing may be deleted and you will be contacted by Bizad.
